Welcome to the Steve Cattle Shotokan Academy Web site.

At the Steve Cattle Shotokan Academy we accept students from the age of 5; this is the minimum age for insurance reasons.

All our instructors/helpers have been vetted. Black belts have been checked with a full Criminal Record Bureau check. This is available for inspection if you wish

Our Club is registered with the “Amateur Martial Association”, a world wide known Martial Arts Body. The Purpose of this is to establish credibility of our club and arrange suitable insurance and licensing of instructors and students.

Our Club is not to provide a living for instructors. Training fees are lower than many other clubs to ensure that karate is accessible to many, children in particular. Fees cover the cost of room hire, insurance and little else.

Equipment is generally funded through fund raising and sponsorship, in which we encourage students to participate.

INSTRUCTORS

Our Club has three instructors, Chief Instructor Sensei Syd Fletcher (4th Dan), Sensei Chris Parker (2nd Dan) and Sensei Gavin Fletcher (2nd Dan). Between them they have around 60 years martial arts experience.

As well as the Instructors, there are several students who assist our instructors. Please feel free to chat to any of our instructors/assistants about any aspect of your training.

If you require any help, have a question or feel that anything is unclear, then please don’t hesitate to ask a graded student (Coloured belts) or an Instructor (Black Belts)
